LaserGas™ II Open Path is an analyzer for long distance environmental gas monitoring (<50 m) from the Norwegian company Neo Monitors. The compact, high-performance LaserGas™ II OP consists of a transceiver and a retroreflector unit.
The retroreflective unit consists of one or more cubic corners in a weatherproof enclosure, which reflects the light back to the receiver. The transmitter collects the returned light for the calculation of the gas concentration.
The instrument is based on the absorption of infrared radiation by gas molecules. An absorption line is selected in the NIR band in which only the gas to be measured has absorption, thus eliminating possible interferences due to other compounds present in the sample.
