The system works thanks to the adequate supply of air by dissolution.<\/p>\n<p><!--<a href=\"http:\/\/matelco.es\/es\/actualidad.php?t=v\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/matelco.es\/es\/actualidad.php?t=v<\/a>--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Dissolved air flotation DAF: an efficient flotation system<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Wastewater enters the flotation system. This is where pre-aeration (to saturate the water flow with air) and post-aeration (to supersaturate the water flow necessary to generate the air bubbles) take place. Air bubbles are generally in the range of 30 to 50 microns. This size is essential for the <strong>efficiency of the flotation system<\/strong>. This is because small bubbles easily adhere to particles of equal or larger size.<\/p>\n<p>The mixture of water and air bubbles is homogeneously distributed inside the inlet compartment where they adhere to the particles. These float directly to the surface of the unit and are collected in a floating layer on the surface of the system. Here they are dragged by means of a special paddle mechanism to the float storage compartment.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth mentioning that the effluent weir controls the thickness of the floated sludge. For this reason it is an essential part of the sludge dewatering system.<\/p>\n<h2>Sludge dewatering.<\/h2>\n<p>Any heavy solids will settle out and be collected in the settling compartment of the system. Discharge of the settled material takes place through a shaftless screw conveyor, a pneumatic discharge valve and automatic operation. In addition, the discharge has a self-cleaning effect. This helps the particles adhered to the walls to detach and continue the path of the initial flow.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, dewatering of the floated sludge is achieved by a <strong>static system<\/strong> based on the principle of inclined plate separation and a single motion scraper. The latter <strong>achieves a dry solids content 3 to 4 times higher than any conventional system<\/strong>.
